Melissa A. Dorman
Since joining Hartline Dacus Barger Dreyer LLP in 2001, Melissa has represented clients in product liability, professional negligence, and commercial litigation. She has successfully represented numerous individual and corporate clients, and has extensive experience representing a broad spectrum of industries in business disputes and product defect cases. Melissa has gained extensive first-chair trial experience during her 19 years of practice, and has tried cases in many cities throughout Texas.
She was raised in Plainview, Texas; obtained a journalism degree from TCU, and earned her law degree from Texas Tech. Melissa credits her Panhandle roots with keeping her grounded. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family. She also enjoys walking and hiking with her fiancé, Randy Matthews, and their dog, Rollie, at Dallas-area nature preserves.
One of her passions is retaining and advancing women in the profession. Mentoring plays a crucial role in this endeavor, and Melissa plans to develop a mentoring program within the Women and the Law Section. She credits the friendship and guidance of more experienced women lawyers with helping her achieve her goals, and wants to continue that process with the section.
Melissa has been both a member and board member of the Women and the Law Section for several years, and is currently serving as the section’s 2013-2014 chair.
